Scharner not surprised by West Brom form

PAUL Scharner admits he is unsure as to why pundits are surprised by West Brom's good start to the campaign, as they prepare for Saturday’s trip to Villa Park.
The Baggies make their shortest away trip of the season hoping for their first league win at Villa Park since May 1979.
Much has been made of Albion’s impressive form since their promotion from the Championship.
But Scharner, who signed as a free agent in the summer, is wondering why there has been such a fuss from observers and critics.
“I haven’t really been surprised because there is a very good squad,” said the Austrian, who was yesterday one of several Albion players visiting children at Sandwell hospital.
“They kept the squad from the promotion, which is why there is a good team spirit, and also the signings are very good. That’s why it’s not a big surprise.
“We can play football and we can challenge and fight and that’s what is needed to stay in the Premier League.
