ROGER Johnson has admitted Blues’ season is likely to stand or fall in the forthcoming weeks.

And the inspirational centre-half said Blues simply had to stop drawing so many games.

Once the Carling Cup semi-final is out of the way a week tomorrow, Blues embark on a series of league fixtures against West Ham United, Stoke City, Newcastle United, Everton, Albion and Wigan Athletic.

Johnson, who netted his first St Andrew’s goal for Blues to put them ahead against Villa on Sunday, said: “It was a good feeling to score in the derby but I’m disappointed we didn’t keep the clean sheet and get three points.

“A loss would have been no good to anyone, us or them. A point is okay but we wanted three at the start and didn’t get them.

“We’ve got a run of games soon against sides who are around us from mid-February to the end of February.

‘‘They are our key games and we’ve got to win them at home.”

The deadlock was Blues’ 11th draw of the campaign, the highest number in the Premier League along with Fulham.

In their 2007-08 relegation season, they slid into the Championship on the back of ten draws, six of them in a nine-game spell at St Andrew’s after Boxing Day.

“I’d rather win two and lose two,” reflected Johnson. “Draws are okay but they are not going to get you up the league.

“We are still in that basement battle and only three points is going to get us out of that.

“We are not winning games, not scoring goals, not keeping clean sheets. I don’t think anyone can argue with that.

“We lack goals, the gaffer is trying to add in the window, we will see what happens.

“There are too many draws, especially at home.”

Johnson has lost his regular centre-half sidekick Scott Dann, who was undergoing surgery on his damaged hamstring today.

The break up of that impressive and effective partnership has come at the worst possible time for Blues.
