DARREN Bent is already aiming to become a claret and blue centurion after reaffirming his commitment to Aston Villa following his 100th Premier League goal.
Bent chalked up his top-flight scoring ton with a typically predatory finish during Wednesday’s thrilling 2-2 draw against QPR at Villa Park.
And the record signing revealed he would love to score another 100 for Villa after laughing off January speculation about him moving away from the club.
“It was fantastic to score my 100th in a Villa jersey,” said Bent.
“That meant a lot to me. It meant the world to me actually.
“There was speculation about me in the January transfer window. But I don’t want to go anywhere. I am fully committed to this great club.
“If I could get another 100 in the claret and blue I’d be happy, delighted. It would really be fantastic.”
Bent ignored last month’s rumours linking him with Liverpool to take his Villa tally to 19 goals in 37 starts and one substitute appearance.
“It was laughable,” he said. “I always knew I was going to be at Villa.
“I have said before and been on record I would like to stay at Villa for years and really kick on in my career while playing for Aston Villa.
“It is flattering to be linked with clubs like Liverpool but at the same time I always knew I was going to be here come February 1 and I am delighted to be here.
“You just laugh it off and get on with it.
