GABBY Agbonlahor is targeting a return to fitness and form against Manchester City on Sunday after a familiar complaint knocked him out of his stride.
Agbonlahor has suffered back and hamstring injuries in recent seasons and his latest troubles halted an otherwise impressive season for the striker.
But after limping out of the FA Cup exit at Arsenal and missing the QPR draw and defeat at Newcastle, he hopes to be ready to return against City.
The Brummie stalwart, Villa’s current longest-serving player, has been staying behind for extra rehabilitation work in a bid to speed his recovery.
“It’s been really frustrating being out injured,” said Agbonlahor.
“No player likes it and that’s especially true for me because I love to play football, so I’m working hard to try to get back. You don’t want to miss games.
“We’re all very eager to get some wins and I love being in amongst it and helping the team.
“It’s been annoying with the back and hamstring problem I’ve had, but it’s improving.
“I’ve been staying behind after most players have gone for the day to do additional work to get fit as soon as I can.
“I’m getting plenty of physio and massage and I’m really eager to be back as soon as I can.
