West Brom: Keith Andrews is a shrewd signing - Steven Reid

STEVEN Reid believes Blackburn will regret allowing Keith Andrews to leave as the midfielder prepares for a potential Albion debut.

Andrews is expected to play some part in Sunday’s game at Molineux, with Roy Hodgson hinting earlier this week that he was impressed with his overall sharpness.

Whether ex-Wolves man Andrews plays from the start or is on the bench remains to be seen, but Reid, who also played at Ewood Park, feels Albion have made a shrewd signing.

“Keith is a brilliant lad, first and foremost,” said Reid. “He’s reliable and very solid.

“He got a rough ride at Blackburn and, to be honest, I’m surprised they didn’t give him more of a run in their side.

“Some of the things that happened up there seem a bit unjustified so it’s our gain because I think we’ve got ourselves a good player.

“He did well when he first came to Blackburn, and he showed during his loan at Ipswich that he’s got an eye for goal. He’s a good signing for us.

“But it’s other qualities too that make him stand out.

“He’s a good passer of the ball, makes good runs from box to box and one of the best attributes he has is that he’s a leader.

“He’s vocal on the pitch and he’s someone who is respected by other players. He makes demands of you on the pitch and he can only be good for us.”
