McDonald settles Old Firm derby

Scott McDonald's second-half strike gave Celtic a 1-0 victory at Ibrox and extended their lead over Rangers at the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League to seven points.

The Light Blues had a 'goal' chalked off in the first half for a foul by defender Kirk Broadfoot on Hoops' keeper Artur Boruc and after the break Rangers striker Kris Boyd missed the best chance of the game by blasting a shot straight at the Pole.

But in the 57th minute McDonald turned Broadfoot and volleyed high past Allan McGregor to inflict upon Rangers their first home defeat of 2008 while also taking a significant step closer to their fourth title in succession.
