Birchfield Harriers' Bernice Williams burns off rivals

BIRCHFIELD Harrier Bernice Wilson stormed to victory in the England Sprint Series Finals, which featured alongside the Birmingham Games.

Wilson won the women’s 100metres in 11.96secs, beating Emma Bailey, of Rugby and Northampton, who came in at 11.99secs.

Coventry Godiva’s Joel Fearon completed a sprint double, capturing the men’s 100metres in 10.66secs and the 200metres in 21.99secs.

Leamington’s Shelly Went won the women’s 200metres in 26.11secs.

Kettering’s Gemma Elliot got the better of Coventry Godiva’s Kellie Bewick to win the women’s 400metres in 59.49secs, while Mansfield’s Sam Cordin was a clear winner in the men’s 400metres, clocking 49.85secs to beat Birmingham University’s Andrew Dean-Young.
