Yates aims to keep Harriers on ground

MANAGER Mark Yates has told his high-flying Kidderminster Harriers side the hard work starts now!

This week’s 2-0 win over York City took Harriers up to third place in the Blue Square Premier – their highest ever placing since relegation from the Football League

But Yates was quick to keep everyone’s feet on the ground and claimed: “All we’ve done is given ourselves a chance after turning around a poor start to the season.

“We’ve given ourselves a platform – that’s all we’ve done”.

Yates admitted confidence was sky-high at present – and while delighted with his squad, singled out the strike partnership of Justin Richards and Matthew Barnes-Homer, who together have already rifled home 12 goals between them this season.

Richards was on the mark again against York City as Harriers stretched their unbeaten league run at Aggborough to 13 games.

Yates added: “Even when we haven’t played well, the players have worked hard, stayed together and got results.

“We’ve got a decent squad of players together who have a great spirit about them and are desperate to succeed.

“The fans also have a team they can believe in and it’s great to see them getting behind the players.

“We’ve got where we want to be in the league, but now we must make sure we stay there”.
