Lyons takes over Brummies captaincy

Jason Lyons

VETERAN Aussie Jason Lyons has taken over as Brummies skipper from the out-of-sorts Brent Werner.

The American has dropped down into a reserve berth after an indifferent first month of the season and boss Graham Drury said: "Brent has given up the captaincy by mutual consent."

Meanwhile, Ulrich Ostergaard has turned down the chance to ride for Swedish Allsvenskan League side Lejonen.

The Dane has decided he already has too many meetings this year - and his young daughter Victoria was also a consideration.

Ostergaard said: "Lejonen have been on the 'phone asking me to ride, but I have around 60 meetings in Britain, up to another 20 in Denmark, and that's enough."
