Poole 62 Wolverhampton 31

WOLVES were brought back down to earth with a bang in last night's shattering defeat at Poole.

The result was a bitter blow after the Monmore men had brushed aside the Pirates when the side met in the Black Country 48-hours earlier.

They failed to recover from a dreadful start which saw them 10-2 down after two races in front of a big Wimborne Road crowd. One of the Wolves new boys, Niels Kristian Iversen, won a tactical ride in Heat 12 for double points as Wolves pulled five points back but the writing was on the wall as the Pirates set sail towards a comfortable win.

Wolves go to Ipswich tonight in the first leg of their Knockout Cup tie with the return at Monmore Green on Monday.

Chris Neath has been added to the squad to take some of the injured Kenneth Hansen's rides.
