Adam gets top billing

ADAM Roynon faces his former club Rye House in Birmingham's Knockout Cup meeting at Perry Barr tonight (7.45).

And he will do so in the No.1 position for the BRC Roofing Brummies after boss Graham Drury shuffled the pack.

Roynon won the Premier League title with the Hertfordshire side last season and was tipped to move into the Elite League with his parent club Coventry this year but he felt a move to Birmingham was more beneficial.

The 19-year-old said: "I've got a lot of friends from my time at Rye House and I'm looking forward to catching up with them tonight.

"It should be a good cup tie and hopefully we can put in a good performance and build up a big lead to take to their place for the return on Saturday.

"I'm pleased to have the No.1 racejacket - it's something which doesn't worry me and I'm ready to meet the challenge head-on. Last season I was at reserve for a lot of the time.

"Now I'm No.1 for Birmingham, so I guess that shows what progress I've made."

Australian ace Craig Watson makes his belated debut for Birmingham after joining from Newport and both Phil Morris and James Birkinshaw are back from long-term injuries.

BIRMINGHAM: Adam Roynon, Phil Morris, Jason Lyons, Lee Smart, Craig Watson, Jack Hargreaves, James Birkinshaw.

RYE HOUSE: Chris Neath, Robert Mear, Tai Woffinden, Tommy Allen, Stefan Ekberg, Danny Betson, Luke Bowen.
