Kyle Legault to decide Birmingham future

Kyle Legault

KYLE Legault will make a decision within the next week over his immediate future with Birmingham.

The classy Canadian managed only three points in his comeback meeting, the Grand Prix qualifier in Italy, on Saturday night – just 10-weeks since suffering a broken femur at Perry Barr.

Legault remains determined to salvage his season and insists he has every chance of riding regularly again. He said: “It was disappointing not to qualify for the next round but I was pleased to get five races under my belt without too many problems.

“I need to go through a thorough practice session and then make a decision. It’s different doing one meeting, rather than three in three days which could happen with Birmingham because of the way the Premier League is. I don’t mind saying I was hurting a little, but without pain there’s no gain! I still want to make something of my season and I’ll know a lot more within the next week.

“It was always going to be tough for me and I was pleased that I mixed it with the rest of the guys. When it needed some tough moves in the first turn I was there and that shows I still have the confidence. Hopefully things will go my way from now on.”

WOLVERHAMPTON owner Chris Van Straaten has admitted some members of his struggling team could be making their last home appearance of the season when they face Eastbourne on Monday (7.30pm).

Van Straaten, frustrated and angry by the club’s disappointing form, is ready to make at least one change when the new team building restrictions apply on July 1.

And the cup tie with the Sussex side, which appears an impossible task after Saturday’s 62-30 first leg defeat, represents one final opportunity for some riders to impress.

WOLVES: Freddie Lindgren R/R, Ales Dryml, Niels Kristian Iversen, Nicolai Klindt, Dabid Howe, Christian Hefenbrock, Kenneth Hansen.

EASTBOURNE: Scott Nicholls, Lewis Bridger, Lee Richardson, Cameron Woodward, Eddie Kennett, Simon Gustafsson, James Brundle.
