Birmingham Brummies: No need to panic - Graham Drury

GRAHAM Drury is refusing to press the panic button after back-to-back defeats for Birmingham at the hands of Wolverhampton.

The Brummies boss says the meetings were good workouts for his new side after their promotion to the Elite League during the winter.

And he takes his side to King’s Lynn tonight in the first leg of the Elite Elevation Trophy with the return at Perry Barr tomorrow.

Some fans have voiced early concern over the lack of form shown by No.1 Krzysztof Kasprzak and Swedish star Daniel Nermark.

Said Drury: “These are the kind of meetings to iron out the problems in the early stages of the season and obviously KK and Daniel have struggled to look anything like their true selves.

“But against King’s Lynn the lads now have an opportunity to show us what they can do and hopefully any problems they have with the machinery can be sorted in time for us to race Poole in front of the Sky cameras on Monday.

“We have been beaten by a very good side in Wolverhampton, I would be surprised if anyone goes there and wins at Monmore Green this season so it was always going to be tough for us.

“It will be good to gain a comparison between the two new Elite League clubs in ourselves and King’s Lynn.

“We want to put on a good show at their place before coming back to Perry Barr for another big night.

“We had a great rivalry with King’s Lynn in the Premier League and I feel sure that will continue at this level but I must emphasise these meetings are important to the team in the build-up to the league itself.”

Drury has selected Ben Barker and James Wright in the doubling-up slots for tonight and Rene Bach and Kevin Wolbert will take their places in the Perry Barr leg.

KING’S LYNN: Kenneth Bjerre, Tomas Topinka, Olly Allen, Mads Korneliussen, Niels Kristian Iversen, Lasse Bjerre, Filip Sitera.

BIRMINGHAM: Krzysztof Kasprzak, Ales Dryml, Ben Barker, Daniel King, Daniel Nermark, Theo Pijper, James Wright.
