Fighter Eddie McIntosh hoping to celebrate new son with win

“AND in the blue corner we have Eddie McIntosh who weighed in last Sunday at 8lb 1oz”.
His dad Eddie will be tipping the scales a good deal heavier than that when he boxes at the Holiday Inn tonight.
And he will be aiming for a spectacular victory to celebrate the birth of his new son when he takes on unbeaten Quinton Hillocks, from Wolverhampton.
Middleweight Eddie (his dad is also Eddie) said: “I have three daughters, who are all fantastic, but I have to admit that in a family crazy about boxing it is just amazing to have a son.
“We are trying to get things into a routine at home and at the same time I am putting the final touches to my training to try and win the British Masters title against Hillocks.
“Life all of a sudden has become that much more hectic and so much more exciting.
“So far I have mixed business with pleasure in that I have had a full-time job working on the roads as much as 15 hours a day and then trying to fit in a fitness schedule for boxing.
“Tiring is one word that comes to mind. I was so exhausted after two rounds of a recent fight that I could hardly raise my arms never mind throw punches.
‘‘It was only my boxing ability which got me through.
“My trainer Richie Woodhall told me that if I didn’t go full-time then I could forget about reaching the top as a boxer.
“So this is the first time I have been doing nothing but training and there has already been a massive difference to my stamina, speed and power.
“I feel as though a massive weight has been taken off my shoulders and that now I can box with a lot more confidence.
‘‘Although I have won all of my nine fights so far this is really just the start.’’
