Squash - Coach Jon Tate vows to go into play-offs on a high

UNIVERSITY Sport Birmingham coach Jon Tate has promised his side will remain competitive as ever when they travel to face Nottingham tonight in the Premier Squash League.

The students have already qualified for the end of season play-offs, irrespective of tonight's result, and Tate said: "We have a duty to the people who have paid to watch."

That said, Tate is set to give Steve London his Premier Squash League debut.

London recently finished runner-up to Ben Ford in the Kent County Championships and is considered a top prospect by Tate.

Nottingham are destined to finish bottom of the group and Tate added: "It's a dead rubber as far as they are concerned. They've got absolutely nothing to play for. We want to win to make sure we go into the playoffs on a confident note."

Energie Fitness Redditch, who cannot now qualify for the play-offs, play host to Esporta Oxford.
