Aston Villa are now genuine top four challengers

Martin O'Neill

WHAT a great job Martin O’Neill is doing at Villa.

I really think they could break into the top four this season.

They are right up there but they’ve got plenty of competition from Manchester City.

I know City have just had a big injection of cash but I think they would have done well anyway.

The one thing I like about Martin is the fact he’s so shrewd and he manages to get his players in the right frame of mind.

Apart from that one game against Stoke City, Martin will be delighted with how things have gone.

That’s why I think Villa will do well this season, because they have such a good manager.

I would have put money on Portsmouth breaking into that top group as well, but after Sunday’s 6-0 thumping against Manchester City, maybe not!

I really rate Harry Redknapp as a manager and he’ll be shocked by what he saw.

I also think Alex Ferguson will be disappointed with the result against Chelsea.

I thought a draw was a fair result in the end, but I feel Manchester United could have taken all three points had they gone for the jugular.

Chelsea have become like United these days in the fact they don’t give up.

It’s always hard coming back from European competition into the dosmetic game.

I know from my own experiences that everyone is on a bit of a low.

But I thought United would have applied more pressure when they had the chance.
