Who'd be a manager? I can't even manage myself...
IT’S good to see Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger getting on so well these days.
They’re two of the greatest football managers we’ve ever seen and perhaps they’re beginning to mellow a bit in their old age.
I don’t think people realise what a difficult job they have to do.
Many managers have tried – and failed – over the years.
You wouldn’t believe the amount of stress and strain that goes with the job.
I know from my own experience that footballers are a difficult bunch to manage.
That’s why I never went into management myself. I wouldn’t have the nerve or guile to do the job.
I haven’t even learnt to manage myself yet!
What I know is that not many players from Arsenal or Manchester United step out of line.
If you do, you find yourself very rapidly heading out of the club.
Once the manager has laid down the rules, you know where you stand.
If you break the rules, especially at United or Arsenal, then you can expect the worst.
