Aston Villa legend is baffled by Birmingham City's Karren Brady
If her comments about Birmingham “entering Phil Scolari territory” are a thinly-veiled hint that Alex’s job is on the line, then I find it extremely disrespectful to the former Scotland boss.
Karren clearly has issues about Blues being “much inferior to the sum of talent at our disposal” and Alex using an excessive amount of players.
But perhaps her concerns should be kept within the corridors of power at St Andrew’s or vented during a private meeting with Alex.
The manager has got enough to worry about simply preparing and motivating his team each week to move them towards the Championship finishing line.
Surely the last thing he needs to be doing is facing interrogation about Karren’s comments from the press and trying to come up with responses which are respectful to the MD without demeaning his own role.
Like I said, I got to socialise with Karren several times while I was at Villa at various functions and events which we both attended around the city.
She came across as a shrewd operator who was clearly very knowledgeable about the workings of the game.
So surely she is aware that openly criticising the manager is more likely to anger and distract the him and the players than relax and inspire them and could even derail their quest for the Premier League.
