Ashley Cole arrested on suspicion of drunk and disorderly
Chelsea and England defender Ashley Cole was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly today.
The 28-year-old was held after swearing at police outside The Collection bar in west London in the early hours.
Officers warned the star, who earns around £80,000 a week, but arrested him when he failed to stop swearing or calm down at about 2.15am.
He was taken to a nearby police station before being issued an £80 fixed penalty notice and released about three hours later.
Police sources said the officers were already on patrol in the street and were not called to any disorder.
One source denied reports they were following up a complaint from a photographer over an alleged bust-up with Cole.
Bar staff said Cole had been out drinking with Chelsea captain John Terry and several other Chelsea team-mates.
General manager Burim Maraj said the popular celebrity hang-out closed at midnight but the group stayed inside eating a meal.
Cole was pictured at a nearby charity event with ex-GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips earlier in the evening.
He joined Chelsea's first team squad and more than 300 charity workers, celebrities and supporters for the second annual Chelsea Football Club and Armani fundraiser.
