West Brom: Jay Simpson will be a star for Arsenal, says Tony Mowbray

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has revealed the desire of on-loan Arsenal striker Jay Simpson to be a future star for the Gunners.

Simpson has created a favourable impression at The Hawthorns since making a temporary switch away from the Emirates Stadium in January until the end of the season.

He has given Albion a cutting edge and linked up well with Marc-Antoine Fortune, although some woeful defending has undermined their efforts at the other end of the pitch.

Mowbray, whose side visit West Ham tonight, said: "Players become part of the Arsenal philosophy and they play the game Arsene Wenger wants them to play. Jay Simpson is one of those players.

"Arsenal - like Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool - can attract the best young players, not just from the area around and about them but from around the world.

"Then they try to develop them around their philosophies, then they pop out the other end as first-team players. The players are brought up the right way.

"Jay is a good human being, he's got the right standards about the way he does his job. He's got the right training ethic. He wants to be a footballer, you can see that.

"Jay is desperate to be a footballer, and a first-team player at Arsenal. He really wants that and he has done well for us.
