West Brom: Jay Simpson will be a star for Arsenal, says Tony Mowbray

"But, whatever direction his career takes it's a great grounding to have."

Mowbray added: "Look at Manchester United. If you work with someone who hasn't quite made it there, you find that they are top people with a great work ethic.

"It will be the same at Arsenal. You have to have that about you to be at their club and Jay is hungry to succeed and be part of that."

Simpson will be available after not being eligible to face his parent club in Albion's 3-1 reversal to the Gunners at The Hawthorns.

Fellow forward Roman Bednar is also hoping to be fit after missing the last two games with a back problem which flared up during the recent training break in Spain.

Defender Jonas Olsson could also be in contention after being sidelined since mid-January with a knee problem after making a reserve-team comeback in midweek.

Albion will be looking to halt a run of six games without a win at Upton Park and they defeated the Hammers 3-2 at home in September.

Mowbray said: "We need to gain confidence and belief from winning matches.

"I think we're more than capable of going on a sequence of victories a couple of times and that's generally what we've got to do."
