Tottenham lead race to sign England striker
Spurs are also leading the race to sign Pompey striker Peter Crouch, who will meet White Hart Lane officials today.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said last night: "I like Peter. I've signed him several times and he's a top player.
"Portsmouth obviously want to sell him because they've accepted offers for him, so if they want to sell him, we'd be interested."
