Chasetown FC climb to third - but boss praises rivals
CHASETOWN climbed to third place in Unibond One South this week following a 2-0 win over local rivals Willenhall.
Reece Styche continued his remarkable run of form in front of goal by netting twice to leave Willenhall well and truly rooted to bottom spot.
Afterwards Chasetown boss Charlie Blakemore praised his rivals and said: “Steve Pomroy and Micky Rawlings will do an excellent job.
“Willenhall were well organised and played with plenty of spirit – which I would expect from a Steve Pomroy side.’’
Blakemore has appointed Andy Cox as his assistant manager having previously spent four years as reserve team boss.
Blakemore said: “Andy and I were Chasetown’s first contracted players when we were 17-year-olds – so we go back almost 25 years.
“I didn’t really have an assistant before but Andy will be a huge help, especially with my work commitments.”
Both Andy Turner and Kevin Sweeney will continue as first-team coaches.
Blakemore also confirmed that long-term injury victims Dean Perrow and Lee Parsons won’t return to action until the New Year.
