Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is heading the race for Lorient’s French hot-shot Kevin Gameiro – with a £12million auction set to start.

Redknapp sent top spy Ian Broomfield to watch Gameiro, who could be the answer to his wish for a new attacking option, against Rennes at the weekend and he saw the player score.

Gameiro will be sold by Lorient at the end of the season.

Sunderland and Newcastle also on his trail and are prepared to move in once the French side start taking bids.
