Cooper scoop for Saddlers

Kevin Cooper

WALSALL'S chances of keeping loanees Kevin Cooper and Kevin Harper for the rest of the season look good with both players indicating they would like to stay on at Bescot.

The midfield pair finish their initial month on loan, from Cardiff and Stoke respectively, after the Saddlers visit Wycombe next Saturday.

They have helped Walsall reboot their prompotion bid with seven points from three games and manager Richard Money is eager to keep them for the rest of the season.

With the players also keen, that looks a formality, albeit probably with clauses stipulating that the players can be recalled at any time by their permanent clubs.

"I think they have enjoyed it here," said Money. "They like the way we play and they get a lot of the ball, so I think they will want to stay.

"We want them to stay so it's a case of speaking to them and then their clubs to see if they are prepared to let that happen.

"If that's the case we'll try to come to an agreement whereby they stay for the rest of the season."

Both players have supplied Walsall will crucial nous and intelligence out wide.

Cooper is also on a roll - he has not tasted defeat in nine league games during which he has played for three different clubs: Cardiff, Yeovil (on loan) and the Saddlers.
