Money's delight at late surge

Richard Money

RICHARD Money today outlined his "delight" at Walsall's revival, which has brought seven points out of nine.

Money's side sit second in League Two with 71 points. That is a strong position with nine games still left, considering that, in the last three seasons, the third automatic promotion spot has been clinched by 81, 80 and 81 points respectively.

But the manager stressed the Saddlers can afford no let-up.

"I'm delighted with the last three results," Money said. "It took us a long time to get through the 60s. Now we are on 71 with nine games left.

"It's a good position, but not unassailable. A lot of teams are breathing down our neck. We have two tough away games next and have to keep pushing on.

"The good thing is I genuinely believe we are beginning to play with the right type of quality at just the right time."

Encouragingly, clean sheets are back in fashion at Bescot. Money's side will be chasing their third successive shut-out tomorrow.

"If you ask Alex Ferguson he'll tell you that, in the run-in, the most important thing is clean sheets," Money said. "If you keep a clean sheet you always have a chance of pinching a goal, even in the 90th minute, like United did at Anfield the other week."
