Saddlers in swoop for Benjamin

Trevor Benjamin

WALSALL have beefed up their attacking options with the deadline-day loan signing of Trevor Benjamin.

The much-travelled 27-year-old, who has arrived from Peterborough on loan for the rest of the season, joins the 14th club of a career stretching back to the 1995/96 season.

Walsall manager Richard Money sees Kettering-born Benjamin, briefly an Albion loanee in 2002, as a valuable aerial threat and penalty-box presence.

"Trevor is a big strong guy with real presence who will give us something we haven't got in the squad at the moment," Money said. "He has great experience. He started this season on fire and hopefully can finish that way."

Benjamin will go straight into the squad for the Saddlers' visit to Milton Keynes Dons on Sunday.

While the temporary recruit settles in, back in the Bescot dressing-room is Tony Bedeau.

The winger, who has failed to shine since arriving from Torquay last summer, has returned to Walsall after an undistinguished loan spell at Bury.
