Money keen to take the title

Richard Money

RICHARD Money will still demand more from his Walsall team even if they clinch promotion from League Two with victory at Notts County next Saturday.

A 1-0 win over Hereford left the Saddlers on the brink of promotion with four games left.

But even if that issue is sealed at Meadow Lane, another objective will remain - pipping Hartlepool for the League Two title.

"We want the title, 100 per cent," Money said. "We have said it from day one and there's no hanging back now. We have got to go and win the next four games because we want to win this league.

"We are only two points off first place and it's all to play for. We are eight games unbeaten - five wins, three draws - and I think we are well capable of continuing this run."

After Notts County, the Saddlers face home games against strugglers Bury and Wrexham before finishing off at Swindon. And Money reckons his squad can last the pace - and prove the early-season doubters wrong.

"We had a lot of people telling us we would have more chance of being in the Conference than League One and that has given us a strong mentality in the group," the manager said. "But I was very impressed with the players pre-season.

"It is a great credit to the players. We knew there was an expectation on them and they have lived with that well."
