Win was all that mattered for Saddlers boss

Richard Money

NARROW, hard-earned and slightly fortunate - that was Walsall's win over Hereford.

But as Richard Money reflected upon three points which left his team with one foot in League One, his message was clear. All that mattered were those three points.

"It's not the games where you play flying football and win comfortably that get you promoted," the manager said. "It's winning games like this and most times this season we've been able to do it.

"It's not always about playing flowing football but, at this moment in time, we are only interested in winning.

"We were not at our best but still created a lot of opportunities. Hereford came here in mid-table and played with freedom and played some good football.

"But we had a number of good individual performance and Manny Smith had a good debut.

"It was not an easy game to come into but I thought he did enough in 20 minutes at Torquay last Saturday to deserve his chance and he can be very pleased with his first game."
