Money sets his sights on the big prize

Richard Money

RICHARD Money has urged his players to keep straining every sinew to try to pip Hartlepool for the League Two title.

"As a player, you don't get many chances to win a medal," the manager said. "And you certainly don't get many chances at a club in League One or Two to win a championship medal.

"If you are at Arsenal, Man United or Chelsea you might expect to win a medal every year. If you spend most of your career in League One or Two it's very different.

"But with three games left we are in with a real chance. We have a wonderful opportunity and I would hate for the players not to give it everything they have got. I am sure they will.

"We also want to keep going because it would be great to finish the season with 12 games unbeaten. We have only lost six league games all season and are proud of that and would like to keep it that way."

Meanwhile, Walsall are still chasing two other avenues of success. They will face Coventry City in the Birmingham Senior Cup final at Bescot Stadium on May 1 and then visit Shrewsbury in the Midland Youth Cup final on May 7.

The latter will be the last competitive game played at Gay Meadow before the bulldozers move in, if Shrewsbury do not make the play-offs.
