Wrack's looking to the future

Darren Wrack

PROMOTION has meant a lot to everyone at Walsall but more than most to Darren Wrack.

The long-serving winger has endured a turbulent 18 months since suffering a broken leg at Yeovil.

He was helpless to prevent the Saddlers' relegation last season and, as other niggling injuries occurred, has had to be content with a bit-part this time round.

But Wrack was on the pitch as a substitute at the end when promotion was clinched at Notts County last Saturday. And the 30-year-old is already looking forward to banking more good times at Bescot.

"It was nice to be involved in the match that clinched it," Wrack said. "It has been a long two years for me really but where we are now more than makes up for all that.

"I would love to have played more this season but the other players have done the club proud. The gaffer has picked a team that gets results week-in and week-out.

"We have been consistent and that's what wins promotions. We haven't played great football all the time but still picked up the points."
