Money plotting move for Melligan

CHELTENHAM Town winger JJ Melligan has emerged as a potential target for Walsall.

Melligan, aged 25, has yet to accept the offer of a new two-year deal from Cheltenham as he mulls over other options.

Walsall are one of those as their hopes fade of signing Kevin Harper, who is keen to return to his native Scotland.

Former Wolves trainee Melligan appears well-suited to fill one of the wide-player vacancies that manager Richard Money has cited as high priority in his transfer manouevres this summer.

With Mark Wright released, Tony Bedeau transfer-listed and Darren Wrack set for a more central role from now on, the Saddlers need some reinforcements wide on the right.

In the last two seasons Dublin-born Melligan has played a big part in Cheltenham's rise to their highest-ever league status and he could fit the bill nicely for the Saddlers.
