Walsall happy to take a Gamble

WALSALL'S board of directors has grown to seven strong with the appointment to it of management accountant Stefan Gamble.

Gamble, aged 32, becomes financial director at the Banks's Stadium, completing a rise through the ranks after arriving at the club in 2002 from BDO Stoy Hayward.

The move cements Walsall's reputation as a locally-orientated club with its off-field stability rooted in the longevity of its lead-ing people behind the scenes.

Jeff Bonser, chairman of the Saddlers since 1990, has welcomed his newest colleague on to the board. "Stefan has played an integral part in the club's off-the-field success in recent years," Bonser said.

"His financial expertise has proven invaluable in the ongoing progression of the club and I am sure he will continue to play a key role as the club makes great strides both on and off the field.

"As a member of the Board of Directors, I am delighted to welcome Stefan."

Gamble, too, is happy with the development.

"I am delighted and honoured to join the board," he said. "There are exciting times ahead and I am looking forward to playing my part in the future success of Walsall Football Club."

Walsall's board now consists of Bonser (chairman), Richard Tisdale, Clive Welch, Roy Whalley (commercial director), Nigel Bond, Peter Gilman and Gamble.
