Money eyes loan targets for Walsall

Richard Money

WALSALL manager Richard Money was today attempting to finalise "one or two" loan deals in advance of the visit to Northampton Town on Saturday.

The deadline for loan transfers will pass tonight so the squad that Money has at his disposal tomorrow will be the one he must wield in the next seven league games before the transfer window re-opens on January 1.

Money would especially like to reinforce a midfield department stripped of Michael Dobson, following knee surgery, for the next month.

Some cover would also be welcome in other areas, not least up front. The Saddlers' goals-for tally of 17 in 16 league games is decent but far from spectacular.

Money and his consultant Paul Taylor have been watching games galore of late to identify targets.

Meanwhile, the spotlight turns on Walsall's youth team tonight when they face Leeds United at the Banks's Stadium in the FA Youth Cup (7pm).

Mick Halsall's youngsters earned the second-round tie with an excellent 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest in the first round.
