Richard Money: I've got a job to do at Walsall

Richard Money

WALSALL boss Richard Money is concentrating all his efforts on improving the Saddlers squad - and not getting involved in speculation linked with sending him to Coventry.

Money has understandably been at the forefront of rumours and reports regarding Iain Dowie's successor, for the twin reasons he previously spent four years on the Sky Blues' coaching staff and also the impressive job he is performing at Walsall.

But the manager is focusing purely on the trip to Swindon on Saturday week.

"It's just speculation," he said of the Coventry link.

"It's understandable, though, because I had four very good and happy years there.

"But I'm the manager of Walsall and will remain so until told otherwise."

And that means trying to bring in fresh faces, which as maximum 93-day emergency loans would include the play-offs should they go through just before Swindon.

"We're looking to bringing in some loans and, because we're not playing on Saturday, anyone who comes in will be available during the play-offs, should we get there," Money confirmed.

Meanwhile, young Walsall defender Richard Taundry believes the 12-day break from action, due to Saturday's scheduled opponents Bristol Rovers still being involved in the FA Cup, has come at a good time.

"We have a few players with little niggles so the extra week or so before our next game will give us the chance to regroup and go again," said the 18-year-old.

"The team have played a lot of football lately and, especially for the likes of Tommy Mooney and Darren Wrack, the extra few days will be a big help."
