Netan Sensara wants left-back spot after signing Walsall deal

NETAN Sansara has revealed he was always going to re-sign for Walsall and is determined to establish himself as Chris Hutchings’ first choice left-back this season.

The 19-year-old product of the Saddlers’ impressive youth system broke through to the first team last season but has now set his sights on holding down a place in the side on a regular basis.

Sansara, who was one of eight players offered new deals in the summer, is determined to take his chance when it comes along.

“Last season was a great season for me,” he said. “I broke into the first team and I played about a dozen games.

“This is a big season for me. I have been a professional for a couple of years now and it seems people have been talking about me breaking through into the first team for a while.

“Now I want to make a name for myself and establish myself as the first choice left-back.

“I want to go back for pre-season training and be fitter and stronger than ever.

“I want to be out at the front in all the running tests and I want to catch the manager’s eye.

“Then perhaps he will look at me and think ‘here’s a player who really wants it’. Then, if he gives me a chance it will be up to me to take it.

“The pre-season games are a great opportunity for me to show what I can do and convince the manager that I can be trusted.

“Now I want to get back to pre-season training and hit the ground running.”

Sansara admitted there was interest from other clubs but he feels a sense of loyalty to his hometown club.

“I think there were a few clubs interested but there were no concrete offers on the table,” he said.

“Anyway, I was always going to sign for Walsall. I am a homegrown lad, born and bred in Walsall, and my family and neighbours are all Walsall fans.

“I also feel this club has done a lot for me. It was this club that spotted me and has given me my chance, and now I would like to give something back.

“I felt a sense of loyalty and I think the best way to repay the club is to give it my best shot and become a good professional.”
