THIS crazy transfer window, that most football lovers would prefer to see scrapped, takes a lot of the focus away from what is currently important.
Blues and the Baggies are great examples of this. They are, and have been for some time, desperate to sign a quality goalscorer.
However, this 31-day transfer window puts players even more in the driving seat than ever, particularly strikers.
They make outrageous and obscene wage demands via their agent (or is it the agent who makes the demands on behalf of the player? I never can tell) and effectively price themselves out of the market for a lot of clubs.
How a player can prefer to sit on his backside on some club’s bench instead of playing is something I struggle to understand.
I do accept that, for players, football is a career not a hobby and they have to do the best for themselves and their family’s future.
So why not move to another club on the same salary instead of being all Oliver Twist-like and asking for more?
Why don’t they want to play?
