Walsall FC: Darryl Westlake insists Walsall's fightback can continue

DARRYL Westlake insists that Walsall’s sensational fightback against Hartlepool last Saturday shows the strength of belief in the squad that they can escape relegation.

The Saddlers have their work cut out to build on last week’s result tonight when they are away to high-flying Milton Keynes Dons. But Westlake reckons that, while the Dons are a powerful and in-form side, the Saddlers will face them with confidence high.

With Emmy Ledesma around to build on his stunning impact against ‘Pool and add his attacking magic into the mix, Walsall have their eyes on causing an upset against the Dons.

“Although we were two-nil down to Hartlepool last Saturday our heads didn’t drop and we never gave up for a minute,” Westlake said. “And as soon as Emmy came on he changed the game. Other players played well too and we started creating lots of chances.

“We will take a lot of confidence from that into the game tonight. Milton Keynes are in good form and they got a great result against Peterborough on Monday and are gunning for promotion but we have mostly played well against good sides this season.

“There is a good feeling around the club now.

“Before the gaffer came in we looked down and out but since he has been manager we have all shown the belief we need and I feel that we can get out of the relegation zone and stay there.”
