DEAN Smith has the luxury of an almost fully fit squad, with the exception of Aaron Lescott, for today’s long-distance trip to Plymouth.
The Walsall manager admits it’s a massive two weeks for the club in their bid to survive in League One, and is happy to not have injuries thwarting their bid.
Lescott is struggling with an ankle injury and is unlikely to make the visit to Home Park, where Smith is hoping for another positive result.
“We’ve got a big two weeks for the football club starting with Plymouth,” he said.
“I don’t like to look too much ahead of that, but we’ve got three home games following and I’m looking forward to it to be honest.
“The lads have been buzzing in training and I think they’re looking forward to the game.’’
Results went their way this week as fellow strugglers Notts County and Dagenham and Redbridge lost, although Bristol Rovers did leapfrog them with their impressive victory over Bournemouth.
Walsall have had a 15-day break and Smith insists it’s been good for the players to refresh themselves.
“It was a nice break, the lads have had a good break to re-charge their batteries and to be honest the training has been excellent,’’ he said.
“I’ve always said I can’t control other results but it’s nice when they go our own way.
“We are now focussing fully on Plymouth.”
