Dean Smith hoping to get the better of fellow ginger-haired manager Gary Megson

DEAN Smith is hoping he can outwit fellow flame-haired manager Gary Megson when Walsall lock horns with Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.

The Walsall boss knows how experienced the former Albion chief is after managing in the Premier League – but personally he knows very little about him.

The one thing that stands out to the 40-year-old is they have the same colour hair but other than that Smith admits he hasn’t dealt with Megson professionally in the past.

“He was manager of a local club here so we all know Gary Megson and he’s got great credentials as a manager so it will be good to pit my wits against him on Saturday,” said Smith.

“But to be honest I don’t know him that well, apart from the fact we have both got ginger hair, that’s about it!

“He came in under very difficult circumstances and they started dropping down the table, but they have steadied the ship now.” It will be the second weekend on the bounce that the away following will almost outnumber the home support.

However, Smith remains unfazed about it having an adverse effect on his players.

“It will be a good atmosphere and a really good game on Saturday,” he added.

“I’m looking forward to it.”
