WALSALL are heading to Scotland for pre-season.
Dean Smith’s squad will spend five days north of the border from July 11.
The team will be based in Stirling where they will undergo training as well as playing a pre-season friendly against Greenock Morton on July 13. The game will be played at Cappielow. Kick-off time and ticket prices will be announced shortly.
Smith believes that five days together will have a positive effect in terms of fitness, conditioning and team bonding.
“It should be a great trip,” explained the Saddlers boss.
“We’ll train every day and being together as a group will be really beneficial.
“It will allow the lads to bond together as a unit and will give me the opportunity to spend time on the training ground implementing ideas ahead of the new campaign.
“The game against Morton will also be a good test. It’s a trip we’re all looking forward to.”
Walsall will also play Wolves, Villa, Cheltenham and Port Vale as part of their summer pre-season schedule.
Meanwhile, out-of-contract Walsall winger Julian Gray has had a trial in the United States with Major League Soccer outfit Seattle Sounders.
The 31-year-old has also been offered a Walsall deal.
