West Brom 3, Leicester 0: Chris Lepkowski's big match verdict and player ratings

NOT there yet, but close. Very close.

It was a game of milestones at The Hawthorns between Albion and Leicester. A 100th career game in charge for Roberto Di Matteo, Nigel Pearson’s century of games at Leicester and James Morrison’s first goal for 15 months – Albion’s 21st different goalscorer this season.

But the fourth promotion in eight years remains on hold. For now.

Still, Albion fans may be best advised to keep Monday evening free and maybe Tuesday morning too. Just in case.

Baggies fans heading home from Watford may find themselves celebrating promotion on the M1 come Monday night if results go to plan between now and then.

The Baggies will be promoted if they beat Watford on Monday and if Nottingham Forest fail to pick up at least three points from either Bristol City today or Cardiff on Monday.

Albion’s class shone through with James Morrison and Robert Koren scoring for Di Matteo’s side.

Their first chance came from a set-piece in the 17th minute. Chris Brunt’s free-kick was met by the head of Jonas Olsson. The ball bounced against the outside of Chris Weale’s near post and rolled out.
