West Bromwich Albion recall Neil Clement from loan

Neil Clement

ALBION have recalled Neil Clement from Hull City - as Bartosz Slusarski checks out of the Hawthorns for a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.

The Baggies are exercising their right to bring Clement back from the KC Stadium after losing Leon Barnett to a hamstring injury, which could potentially keep him out for another two to four weeks.

Albion will also be mindful that the Tigers have become major promotion rivals, having won five of their last seven games, with Clement playing a major part in that run.

Tony Mowbray’s decision to bring back Albion’s longest-serving player protects the club’s own interests, echoing the recall of Steve Watson from his loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday last season, just as the Owls were making a push for the play-offs.

Clement, who has made 283 appearances for Albion, has suffered a torrid time with injuries during the last 18 months but is expected to go straight into the squad for this Saturday’s game against Colchester United.

Meanwhile, Polish striker Slusarski will link up with ex-Albion men Ronnie Wallwork and Steve Watson at Hillsborough for the remainder of the season after failing to establish himself in Mowbray’s first team.

The 26-year-old scored once during his loan spell at Blackpool earlier this season.
