Uncertainty remains over Kevin Phillips' West Bromwich Albion future

KEVIN Phillips' Albion future remains unclear after the striker conceded that Premier League football may not be enough to keep him at the club.

The 34-year-old will soon be out of contract and wants a two-year contract.

Phillips is settled in the Midlands and would, ideally, like to remain at The Hawthorns, even though Albion have so far only offered him a one-year deal with a 12-month option.

Talks were put on hold after he opted to focus his energies towards promotion.

And while Phillips admitted during the post-match celebrations at Loftus Road that he hoped to sign a new contract, he has also countered that by claiming that the issue was far from being resolved.

"I really hope to sign a new contract - that's what I want," he said.

"But I am not going to say I will definitely be around next season.

"This is going to be my last contract and it needs to be right. I am not going to sign for the sake of it. I would like two years.

"We will talk and I am sure we will have different views but hopefully it will get sorted.

"There are other options. Nobody is stupid about that, but I am settled and happy where I am."
