West Bromwich Albion sign Borja Valero

Borja Valero

WEST Bromwich Albion have completed the record signing of Borja Valero for £4.9 million, according to the player's agent.

The Spanish midfielder has put pen to paper on a four year deal.

His agent Martan Paledes confirmed that the player's deal was done and dusted, despite no official confirmation from the Hawthorns.

However Albion officials have this afternoon indicated that the final details of the contract were being drawn up with an official announcement due tomorow morning.

"This has gone through and we are very pleased," Paledes said.

“Borja is very happy and is looking forward to playing in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion.

"We believe this is a great opportunity for him.

"Everything was sorted out this morning and he is very pleased to join the club."

Albion still want to sign his Real Mallorca team-mate Oscar Trejo, although that deal remains in the balance, not least as the player is not convinced about a move to The Hawthorns.

But speculation today linking Albion with Real's centre-half Nunes have been dismissed.

The Portuguese defender has signed a new three-year contract.

In truth, although Albion inquired about the player, the two clubs were never even close to agreeing a fee.

The Baggies abandoned their interest in the player last Friday, as revealed in Saturday's Birmingham Mail.
