Jonas Olsson: Reds trip dream come true

Jonas Olsson

JONAS Olsson admits being a Premier League footballer will finally sink in when Albion take on Manchester United on Saturday.

The centre-half has been an impressive addition to Tony Mowbray’s defence since completing his £800,000 move from NEC Nijmegen just over a month ago.

And he says taking to the field at Old Trafford will be a ‘dream’ occasion for him – not least as he supported United as a youngster whe he was growing up in Sweden.

He feels Albion’s recent form of three wins in four games sets them up prefectly.

“It’s a very nice situation,” said Olsson.

“As a newcomer you want to relieve the pressure and get some points on the board.

“Coming to a new club the first few games are always nerve-wracking but the results we have had recently really have helped me settle down.

“It’s becomes easier as you get to know the players – what type of players they are, what skills they have and where they want the ball.

“Entering the international break with a good feeling around the club makes it so much easier to go training, especially with a few recent wins behind us.

“It is also important to have that feeling when we go to Manchester United.

“That game will be a dream for me. That’s what the Premier League is all about and as I supported them when I was younger it will mean a lot to me. I have been waiting for it.”

Meanwhile, injured midfielder Do-heon Kim has revealed his frustration after being ruled out until at least the end of November.

The Korean suffered medial knee ligament damage in the opening throes of Albion’s victory at Middlesbrough.

He said: “The season has started well so it is a bit disappointing to be injured at this time. I have been playing well and so has the rest of the team.

“But these things do happen and I’m going to return stronger than ever.

“It is still early into the season so there are a lot of opportunities for me later.”
