Backing For West Bromwich Albion keeper

DEFENDER Jonas Olsson believes Scott Carson will have a pivotal role in Albion’s game at Stoke City tomorrow.

The under-fire goalkeeper drew criticism from certain quarters following Germany’s goal in Wednesday night’s England international, despite skipper John Terry shouldering all blame.

Olsson joined Tony Mowbray in backing Carson, as reported on birminghammail.net yesterday, and feels the young thrice-capped keeper will be crucial at the Britannia Stadium when Albion face a Stoke side buoyed by Rory Delap’s infamous long throws.

“I have full confidence in Scott, he has impressed me a lot this season,” said Olsson.

“It was Terry’s mistake. Scott had a tough game against Croatia but we’ve seen by how he’s played that he had put it behind him. That’s football.
