West Bromwich Albion: Mowbray backs Teixeira to have impact
TONY Mowbray believes Filipe Teixeira can still have a major impact in Albion’s season.
The Portuguese midfielder has barely featured since returning from a ruptured cruciate during the autumn. Since then he has also been sidelined with a troublesome calf injury.
He was expected to be on the bench for today’s game at Villa and the Albion boss hopes to have him back and fully firing sooner rather than later.
“Frustration is the right word for Filipe,” said Mowbray.
“He was on the verge of coming back the other week and pulled his calf in the warm-up.
“He has had a cruciate injury and the body takes time to readjust to full fitness.
“The knee might be fine but it compensates in other ways, in the calfs and groins, and you get little niggles.
“We’ve talked to him about that and he has got to be mentally tough and hopefully his time is coming pretty soon and we will have an important part to play.
