West Brom boss bemoans 'silly' mistakes against Everton

TONY Mowbray bemoaned the same old story as Albion succumbed to a “typical” result at Everton.

The Baggies were beaten despite a spirited performance at Goodison Park.

Mowbray admitted his side once again underlined their inexperience, making “silly” mistakes in the process.

“I think we showed naivety – it’s where we are as a team,” he said.

“It was a pretty typical day for us.

“We’ve found it hard to win games and yet I sit there and enjoy watching my team play.

“It’s the way we play, it’s the way we coach, it’s the way we teach our players.

“I think Everton, as with a lot of teams in this league, do the other side of the game better than we do.

“We’ve got to get to the point where we deal with free-kicks into our box better and make better decisions.

“I was happy enough with the team. I think we created enough chances to get something from the game. Yet, when you make silly decisions in defence in your box, you probably don’t deserve to win matches.

“Tim Cahill has scored plenty of goals this year and against better teams than us.

“That’s part and parcel of football, it’s something that happens.”
