West Brom: Tony Mowbray runs out of patience with defence

Tony Mowbray has finally run out of patience with his West Bromwich Albion defenders after another poor showing against Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Mowbray was appalled with the manner in which his side gifted three goals to an Arsenal side that hadn’t scored in its previous four league games, and it wasn’t a one off.

Poor defending allowed Everton to take all three points at Goodison Park on Saturday after Albion had created the lion’s share of the chances and Newcastle didn’t have to work hard for their three goals in the previous home game.

The Albion boss has now said enough is enough to his defenders and demanded they start doing their jobs.

“The story of the night was our defending and if we don’t improve that we won’t give ourselves a chance of staying in this league,” said Mowbray.

“I’m not an effing-and-blinding, throwing-things-against-the-wall manager but I let them know how I feel afterwards.

“A few have got to step up to the mark and start doing the jobs they get paid for. If they do, great, if they don’t, we will all suffer the consequences.

“How can you win matches if you defend like we did in the first half? Put simply, you can’t!
